SCORING: Three points are awarded for a regular time victory, two points are awarded for an overtime victory and one point is awarded for an overtime loss. Regular season games consist of two running-time twenty minute periods. Stopped time will only be used in the last two minutes of the second period if the score differential is two goals or less. Teams winning a game by forfeit will be awarded a 8-0 victory.  An eight goal Mercy Rule is used during the regular season.

OVERTIME GAMES: A tie score after two periods would result in a five minute sudden-death overtime. If neither team scores during the overtime period a Shoot-Out will be used to determine the winner with each team providing three shooters. If the game remains tied after the three shooters are done the teams continue shooting in sudden-death mode. The winning team is credited with one extra goal in the final score and credited with one extra goal in its total goals scored.

PLAYOFFS: Each conference will enter a playoff for their own championship starting in June 2012.  The regular season division winners in the Tier 1 Empire Conference will be awarded the first and second seed in the playoff bracket, with the division winner possessing the better Win-Loss record gaining the higher seed. Both division winners will receive a first round bye. The remaining four teams with the best Win-Loss record, regardless of division, will be awarded seeds 3 through 6 and compete in the opening round of the playoffs.

The early playoff rounds will be single elimination games and each conference’s Championship Finals will be a two-out-of three series. Divisional rankings and playoff seedings will first be be based on the Win-Loss record number of points with ties decided first by the head-to-head record between the teams. The Goals Against statistic will then be used to decide any additional ties (lower number wins) and the Goals For Statistic used to decide any further ties (higher number wins). Playoff games will have two running-time twenty minute periods with stopped time only used in the last two minutes of the second period if the score differential is two goals or less. Playoff games tied after three periods will go to sudden-death twenty minute overtime periods. No Mercy Rule is used during playoff games.

RELEGATION / PROMOTION BETWEEN LEVELS: Staring with the Spring 2011 season there will be two separate levels of competition.  Each tier will only play teams within their own conference.  Each conference will have its own playoff bracket, crown its own champion and have its own MVP award winners.  The team that finished in last place in Tier 1 each season will be relegated to Tier 2 the following season.  The winner of the Tier 2 championship playoff tournament will be promoted to Tier 1 for the following season.
