Since its founding in 1841, NYU School of Medicine has made countless contributions to medical education, scientific research, and patient care, saving and enriching lives the world over. Today, NYU School of Medicine remains at the forefront of academic medicine. In medical education, NYU is distinguished by its innovative programs in cyber learning, evidence-based practice, humanistic medicine, and urban and global health. Approximately 680 students are enrolled in the M.D. program and another 68 in the Medical Scientist Training Program, which combines the broad scientific and clinical education of the physician with rigorous research training in a specific basic science discipline, leading to the M.D.-Ph.D. degree.
Up until the Summer of 2006 the NYU MED roller hockey team previously played in the B1 Division at Chelsea Piers. They came into the Fall 2008 playoffs as a #8 seed but battled their way to the Finals where they lost to the Sharkz. NYU MED will be led into the operating theater during their fourth season of action in the MRHL by Co-Captains Joshua Marcus and Daniel Smith. The team was featured in an October 20th, 2008 New York Times article you can read at this link: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/20/nyregion/
