Professor Thom's Bar & Restaurant (www.professorthoms.com), located at 219 2nd Avenue (between 13th and 14th streets) in the East Village, is a cheery, beery hardwood-floor hangout co-owned by five bartenders. Sidle up to the whopping 41-foot bar and knock back imported tipples like Belgian Delirium Tremons and potent Blackthorn Cider, plus pub grub done right, from deep-fried mac and cheese and fat burgers to nachos served on a pizza platter. The nine blaring TV sets show games from the NFL, NBA, NHL, and NCAA basketball and football packages. The vintage upstairs lounge, with original 1830s ceiling moldings, is a whole different scene. If your favorite game isn't on you can entertain yourself with the Monday Night Club Specials, Tuesday’s Trivia Nite, Wednesday’s Bingo and Sunday night's Reverse Happy Hour.

The Professor Thom's team was known in 2006 as '3 Fat 1 Skinny' and finished with a 9-3 record in the B1 Division of the Chelsea Piers Adult Roller Hockey program. They formerly played in the MRHL as Organic Near You and were the winners of the inaugural league championship after finishing the Summer 2007 season with a 7-3 record. They finished the Fall 2008 regular season with an 8-2 record and a #3 seed in the playoffs. After posting a 6-3-1 regular season record they won the Spring 2009 League Championship in two straight games over the East End Terriers. The Professor Thom’s team defended their championship during the Fall 2009 playoffs but lost in the finals to the East End Terriers. Captain Adam Root leads this squad, comprised largely of Barclays Capital coworkers, into battle each week.
