Wharf Bar & Grill

Tired of the local bar turned trendy or ultra chic lounge? Then check out the Wharf Bar & Grill (located at  587 Third Avenue between 38th and 39th Streets) for an unpretentious place to gather with friends and enjoy good food and drink the way it was always meant to be. The décor is clean and sharp but still has all the character of your favorite neighborhood restaurant and drinking establishment. Wood trim walls are adorned with mounted fish, nautical charts and prints to cast a seafaring look that is both warm and welcoming.  The retractable roof allows the large outdoor deck to remain open year-round, rain or shine. The Wharf Bar & Grill has 16 beers on tap and an extensive menu featuring pub fare, an array of salads and sandwiches, and special items from the grill, including a few fresh seafood selections. Come in after work for happy hour specials; stop by to catch all the games via satellite on 11 plasma TVs; or just drop in, relax and enjoy some good times at the Wharf.

Jordan Steinberg is the captain of the Wharf Bar & Grill team as they begin their second season in the Manhattan Roller Hockey League.  Among players from other MRHL squads in previous seasons, the team’s roster features players who were on a  Suffern High School team which went onto state semifinals and finals the years they played.  One of them, Jon Foster, also played for the University of Denver when the team won two NCAA national championships.

The deciding Game 3 of the Tier 2 Championship Finals was played on June 12, 2011 between the #1 playoff seed Rathbones Pub and the #2 seed Wharf Bar & Grill.  A well-played and exciting three periods of  playoff hockey resulted in a 5-5 tie.  Michael Geraci, #11 on Wharf, took a tough angle shot from between the boards and the right face-off circle and scored twelve seconds into Overtime to seal the 6-5 victory (as shown in this YouTube clip) and make Wharf Bar & Grill the league’s inaugural Tier 2 championship team.  The Spring 2011 playoffs Most Valuable Player trophy was awarded to Jon Foster, #15 on Wharf Bar & Grill, for his 13 goals and 3 assists during the post-season campaign.   A  Wall Street Journal article dated June 13th features interviews with MRHL officials and players at the June 4th and 5th, 2011 playoff games between Wharf and Rathbones Pub.

Wharf Bar & Grill has been promoted to the Tier 1 level for the Fall 2011 season.
